The Latest
Here's the latest news on what's happening at UMA:
- REMINDER TO LOOK OUT FOR BOGUS EMAILS
A bogus email was recently sent out from scammers asking for account details in order to upgrade and reactivate students/faculty/staff email accounts, and mentions UMS Horde Webmail. While the University System will be upgrading Horde this summer, any instructions from UMA will come from UMA Moose or an actual UMA department. There is no need EVER for UMA, the Helpdesk, or the System Office to ask for your password. Any email that asks for your password should be deleted immediately. If you have responded to this or a similar email, contact the Helpdesk ( umahelp@maine.edu ) (621-3475/1-888-867-5434) immediately. - MILE OF ART
"Mile of Art" is an opportunity for local artists to show their talents for free on the beautiful 1 mile wooded naturepath behind UMA. Date:Saturday, August 1, 2009 (Rain Date Sunday, August 2, 2009) 11 to 5 PM. FMI: Mary Jackson ( sweetermom1@yahoo.com ) - WELLNESS TIP
When enjoying the beautiful weather this summer, it is important to remember to use proper eye wear to protect your eyes against harmful UV rays. Be sure to wear sunglasses that filter out UV light. Otherwise, your sunglasses are opening up your pupils by making things darker, which actually lets in more UV rays. It is also important to wear sunglasses if you are around water, which can reflect an abundant amount of light to your eyes. FMI: Jennifer Laney ( jennifer.laney@maine.edu ) - UMA BOOKSTORE
