Fire Procedures
Step 1: Remain calm. Do not panic.
Step 2: Immediately sound the building fire alarm and evacuate the building following Building Evacuation Procedures. During the evacuation of the building, occupants should leave by the stairwells. Do not use the elevators. Do not reenter the building.
Step 3: Call the Fire Department. From University phones, it may be necessary to dial an outside access code. At Augusta, dial "9" and then "911". At the University College of Bangor, simply dial "911".
Give the following information slowly and clearly:
- State you would like to report a fire.
- Give exact location of fire.
- Describe extent of fire.
- State your name.
- Give your telephone number.
- Specify the best way to enter the building.
