SGA Club/Organization Funding Policy

Section 1. Semester Allotments. All active clubs/organizations recognized by the University and SGA that are in good standing, as defined in the Clubs/Organizations Obligation and Recommendation Document, are eligible for SGA funding. To receive funding, clubs/organizations must fill out and present a Semester Allotment Request Form to receive base funding. A complete and accurate membership roster needs to be submitted following the add/drop period each semester. Clubs/Organizations will not be eligible for base funding if they have not filed an updated constitution and bylaws with the Student Life Office. Failure to return both the Semester Allotment Request Form and the membership list by the 30th calendar day of the semester* will result in a reduction of funding on the following schedule:

0-30 days into semester* 100%
31-60 days into semester
67%
61-90 days into semester
33%
91+ days into semester
0%

Remaining balance in the Club/Organization Base Fund will be rolled over into the SGA's general fund for reallocation at the end of the spring semester.

Section 2. Division of Organizational Funding. 25% of the Clubs and Organizations Budget shall be withheld to fund clubs/organizations that are formed during a semester, or return to active and good standing during a semester. 75% shall be split up evenly by all clubs/organizations eligible for funding.
NOTE: Funding will be forfeited if a club fails to submit an accurate membership list by the 30th calendar day of the semester.

Section 3. New Clubs/Organizations. The SGA has designated 25% of their club/organization funding to foster new clubs/organizations. New clubs/organizations may be allocated up to 20% of this fund to provide a baseline budget. These allocated funds are available on a first come, first serve basis. Be aware, the deadline for application is the 90th day of the semester. All clubs/organizations that are recognized during the semester or return to active and good standing during a semester, shall receive a prorated portion of their funding on the schedule outlined in the table above.

Section 4. Use of Semester Allotments. Clubs/organizations may use their allotment for any purpose that is not in opposition to any applicable laws or the Student Conduct Code of the University of Maine at Augusta. However, the clubs/organizations must still document their usage of this money and file a report each semester with the SGA.

Section 5. Activity Funding. Clubs/organizations seeking additional funding from the SGA must fill out a Funding Request Form. They must also attend a meeting of the SGA; ifthey fail to attend the meeting, their application will be tabled.

NOTE: In order to be considered for activity funding, an event must be open to all students on the campus. The event must be advertised in multiple locations on campus for at least one calendar week prior to the start of event registration. Registrations must be held in an area designated by the Student Life Office.
