Biography

Amanda Ray Thaller, RN, MSN, ACNP has been a nurse since 1999, with a wide range of acute clinical experience on units, including neurology, neurosurgery, otlolaryngology, orthopaedics, trauma, woundcare/burn, heme/oncology, bone marrow transplant, bariatric surgery, and gynecology.

Amanda has been teaching since 2004 in the clinical setting at three different institutions. In 2012, she accepted a full-time position here at the University of Maine at Augusta as an Instructor and the Learning resources Laboratory Manager. Recently Amanda has added classroom teaching to her list of experiences by teaching NUR230 in the University of Maine at Augusta collaborative Bachelors of Science in Nursing program with University of Maine at Fort Kent.

Amanda believes in fostering a nurturing learning environment and supporting students’ education experiences through a compassionate, accepting, and encouraging relationship with students. She models and encourages holistic wellness, civility, compassion, and community in her clinical groups. Her teaching style is upbeat and casual, incorporating evidence based nursing practice and anecdotal stories of her experiences.

Amanda moved back to Maine with her husband (after being away for 12 years) to raise her three children in this wonderful state surrounded by family. She loves healthy cooking, being outside near water, hiking in beautiful places, and yoga/meditation anywhere.
