Anita Jerosch, PhD, is assistant professor of music and department coordinator at the University of Maine at Augusta where she teaches music history, music education and brass courses.  Anita received her PhD in music and education from the University of Maine. Her doctoral research focused on adult education, specifically concert band programs for beginner adult musicians. Anita also holds a M.M. in Trombone Performance from the University of Maine and a B.M. in Jazz and Contemporary Music with a performance concentration from the University of Maine at Augusta.  Anita has previously studied at the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music with Hal Janks; bass trombonist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, David Taylor and Mark Manduca.

Anita toured the U.S. with the musicals Hello Dolly, Cabaret and Sweeney Todd and musical revues for performers Carol Channing and Rita Moreno. With the Kit McClure Band she toured the U.S., Europe and Japan for five years, performed at the 1989 and 1993 Democratic National Conventions and at President Clinton’s Inaugural Balls in 1993 and 1997. While in NYC, she has performed with the big bands; Diva, Illinois Jacquet Band, Charlie Percip Superman Band , and the Tom Pierson Orchestra.  More recently she has backed up Don McClean, Barry Manilow, Kenny Rogers ,Clem DeRosa, Marvin Stamm, Joan Rivers and the Manhattan Transfer.  Anita is bass trombonist with the Bangor Symphony, Maine Chamber Orchestra and has performed with the Portland Symphony Orchestra and Port Opera. 

Anita is the band director at the University of Maine at Farmington (on leave 2013-2014) and instructor of low brass and chamber music at Bowdoin College. Anita has guest conducted the MMEA District V high school honors orchestra and is a frequent guest low brass and jazz band teacher in high schools around Maine. She holds Maine State Teacher Certifications for K-12 Music and German.
