As a UMA alumna I know what it's like to be a non-traditional student and what challenges students face. In 1993, I enrolled at UMA taking one class at a time. I held a full-time job, and at the end of the day I had a husband and three kids waiting at home for me along with my homework. Staying up late weeknights doing homework and using vacation time to write that final paper, were just some of the many sacrifices I made, but it was all part of the journey. Many times I wanted to take a break, but I'm glad I didn't. Making college a priority was the best thing I ever did for me. You can now find me in UMA's University Advancement and Alumni Relations office on the Augusta campus.

Originally from East Vassalboro, I graduated from Waterville High School and then served in the military for five years. After leaving the service I went to the University of Maine at Augusta and earned an A. S. in Criminal Justice. After graduating from UMA, I returned to the military and served in several states in the U.S., Germany, Kuwait, Iraq. I retired from the military in 2009 and came back to UMA in 2011. I have five children and my wife is also a student at UMA. I will graduate from UMA with a B. S. in Public Administration in May of 2015. I am in the process of applying to go to USM for an M.B.A.
