On Friday, April 21, UMA will be hosting its annual undergraduate English Conference, this year combined with our annual Plunkett Poetry Festival, on the Augusta campus.
Please consider attending one of the four student panels in the Klahr Center, running from 10-4pm. Or just come for lunch and hear Maine Poet Laureate Stu Kestenbaum at 1pm in the Klahr Center.
At 4:15, we will decamp for the first floor of Randall, where this semester’s graphic storytelling students will be on hand to talk about their work displayed there.
At 5:00pm, a group of Maine poets will lead a discussion on this year’s academic theme, climate change, in the Fireplace Lounge, followed by a community dinner of Indian food.
The evening program begins at 7:30 in Jewett Auditorium, where the incomparable poet Naomi Shihab Nye will read, answer questions, and sign books. A reception follows in the gallery.
Please do join us for any or all of these events. All of them are free and open to the public.
