UMA celebrates International Month in April by spotlighting current international students.

InternationalMonthThe University of Maine at Augusta is celebrating International Month this April by highlighting the countries of its international students, Spain, India, Rwanda, and France. Events will take place every Tuesday in the month of April.

Go Global, an international club on the UMA campus in Augusta, will be hosting the events starting at 11:00am in the Moosetracks Café with traditional native cuisine from the featured country. After lunch, at 1:00pm, the Klahr Center will feature a film chosen by the international student of the week.

The film schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, April 9th - Spain, Tesis
  • Tuesday, April 16th - India, Three Idiots
  • Tuesday, April 23rd - Rwanda, As We Forgive
  • Tuesday, April 30th - France, La Grande Vadrouille

The Bennett D. Katz Memorial Library will display a short biography on each of the students, including information about their specific country, photos of the area, and a traditional recipe for participants to take home.

On Tuesday, April 23rd Go Global will host, Walk to Remember, an annual event in remembrance of the Rwandan Genocide. Those who wish to participate in the walk will meet at 11:45am at the Klahr Center for a short walk that will end back at the Klahr Center followed by the film, As We Forgive and a brief discussion period after the film.
