The analysis of species and community structures of Collembola in plots situated near charcoal kiln and in control areas of forest ecosystems in Bieszczady has been carried out. In soils of investigated beech forests (Dentario glandulosae Fagetum), 80 species of springtails have been revealed on the whole. The greatest changes in Collembola communities were stated during the first decade of charcoal kiln running. Specifically, in soils saturated with smoke the increase of mean abundance of springtails (from 70,4 to 118,1 thousand specimens per sq. m), (Folsomia multisetta, Megalothorax minimus and others) and also considerable changes in the numerical hierarchy of dominants in comparison with control have been revealed. After 20 years of kiln running signs of disturbance Collembola soil communities disappear. Separate species are notable for availability and manner of their reaction to the presence of smoke in the soil. |
