EDATOP REACTION ON CHARCOAL KILNING PROCESS IN THE POLISH BIESZCZADY MOUNTAINS

Influence of charcoal kilning process on some physical (bulk density, field moisture) chemical (pH-value, contents of organic and water-soluble carbon, ammonia and nitric nitrogen forms) and biochemical (microbial biomes, basal and substrate induced respiration, metabolic quotient, ammonification, nitrification, total nitrogen mineralization, ureaze activity) properties of brown acid soils (Dystric Cambisols) in mixed coniferous-broad-leaved forests of the Polish Bieszczady Mountains has been investigated.

The preliminary results of the research show: the most essential effect on soil functional parameters was caused by 10 years of exploitation of kilns. Here the medium degree of disturbance of soil microbial association stability, according to 5-ball estimation scale by Blagodatskaya, Ananyeva (1996) on account of changes of soil biota functional indices is ascertained: in comparison with other investigated plots (3 and 20 years of exploitation of kilns) basal respiration level is on the increase here, against background of the decrease of soil microbial substrate induced respiration and total nitrogen.
