The UMA Bangor campus invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor and Dental Assisting Program Coordinator.  The major duties of the position are shared between coordination of the Dental Assisting Program and teaching and advising students.  The teaching assignment will be determined by the University and may include didactic, clinical and laboratory teaching in the Dental Assisting Program.  Participation in professional and institutional service and scholarly activity is also required.  This is a nine-month faculty position (September 1 through May 31).  The successful candidate will be required to work one additional month during June, July, and August and will receive additional compensation.  This full-time position is available either Spring semester 2014 (start date early January 2014) or Fall semester (start date mid-August 2014).  The nine-month salary range is mid-forties, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The University offers an excellent fringe-benefits package. 


Qualifications:  Requirements:  Minimum Master’s degree in health, education, or a related discipline (currently matriculated applicants will be considered).  The successful candidate must have one of the following:  CDA with Maine radiology licensure; RDH eligible to obtain CDA and Maine licensed or eligibility for licensure; DMD or DDS Maine licensed or eligibility for licensure.  Three years of clinical experience which includes the application of four handed dentistry and previous teaching experience required. Preferences:  Previous successful teaching experience using distance education modalities; certification as an Expanded Function Dental Assistant.
