Golf team notches another solid performance

ORONO, Maine - Penobscot Valley was the sight for a rainy golf match as the UMA golf team was once again the only school represented by co-ed squad. Josie Barrows, a first year student at UMA, shaved 18 strokes off of her game from the previous tournament to highlight the performance by the Moose. Team Captain Phil Fernald recorded his third top 10 finish in a row, finishing tied for 10th. Matt Tarrio was UMA's Medalist finishing 7th overall, shooting an 8 over 80 on the difficult and very wet par 72.
UMA finished fourth out of five in Team scoring shooting 384 while University of Maine at Presque Isle finished 1st with a dazzling total score of 316.
The University of Maine at Augusta will host the Yankee Small College Conference Championship this Saturday, October 1st at 9:30AM. Please root on your UMA Golfers if you see them this week.

At UMA we offer quality athletic programs which encourage personal, social, physical and educational development. Experience being a valued part of a team. As members of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, UMA's Men's and Women's Basketball teams play colleges throughout New England.
UMA's Co-ed Golf Team competes throughout northern New England.
The Women's Soccer team also plays a strong regional schedule. Regionally, our intercollegiate women's soccer team competes in the Yankee Small College Athletic Conference. This year, the Women's Soccer team also earned a spot in the USCAA National Tournament.
The Men's Basketball team won the 2009 YSCC Conference Playoff Championship. This big championship win earned the team a bid to this years USCAA National tournament in Pittsburgh, PA. The Women's Basketball team competed in the final four of the YSCC conference playoffs.
