The "Concerts at Jewett" Series sponsored by University of Maine at Augusta College of Arts and Sciences and UMA Senior College will feature classical pianist, George Lopez on Sunday, February 9, 2014, 2:00 PM at UMA Jewett Auditorium. There will be a pre-concert talk at 1 PM. Snow date: Feb. 23rd.

George Lopez has been featured across the globe as recitalist and soloist with orchestra. He received critical acclaim for his interpretation of Bach's Goldberg Variations at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. On his world tour he performed in Paris, London, Cologne, New York's Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, and in Los Angeles where he was hailed by the Los Angeles Times for his ”...musical perspective, continuity, and kaleidoscopic colors”.

His chamber music collaborations have included the Emerson String Quartet. He has been an advocate of music education for many years and is a popular lecturer on the arts in New England. Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Belize by Mayan parents, Mr. Lopez is currently Artist-In-Residence at Bowdoin College.
