(CLEP) College Level Examination Program
UMA participates in CLEP for college credit. Students in UMA degree programs may earn a maximum of 45 credits through CLEP.
UMA is also an open test center. This means that anyone who wishes to take CLEP exams at UMA may do so and the results can be sent to any CLEP participating institution.
CLEP exams are administered at UMA's Augusta Campus.

To Register:
1.) Get a registration form, CLEP policy statement and a copy of this brochure from your local UMA site. Please note that the UMA policy statement applies only to UMA students.
2.) Send to the Academic and Career Advising Center (46 University Drive, Augusta, Maine 04330):
- A completed registration form: (http://media.collegeboard.com/digitalServices/pdf/clep/reg-adm-form.pdf)
- A check or money order payable to CLEP for $80 per exam. (Payment via credit card can be completed on test day)
- A separate non-refundable service fee payable to UMA for $25 per exam, due upon registration
- If you are taking an exam with an optional essay (this excludes the College Composition CLEP), a separate additional $10 fee payable to UMA is required.
- Please request a map if you need directions to the testing location. The Test Center Code # is 3929.

4.) The Test Center name is The University of Maine at Augusta (please note your preferred testing location).
5.) The Score Recipient Code Number is not required, but be sure to provide the name of the institution (item 28).
6.) If you are required to take the optional essay section of an Exam, you will be taking an additional 90-minute test. There is an additional $10 fee for the essay. (This EXCLUDES the College Composition CLEP test.)
7.) You must wait six (6) months before retaking a CLEP exam.
Prior to testing, please contact the college/university that you'll be sending your score report to (for credit) so that you'll know what the required passing score is.
NOTE: Your registration will be confirmed by the return of your admission ticket approximately one week before the scheduled test date. You will receive no other confirmation of your testing appointment. Your first choice date will usually be available, if not, the test administrator will call to reschedule. It is the student's responsibility to cancel or reschedule. Please arrive for testing on time; late candidates will not be permitted to take the exam.
- Exams are offered at 9 am and 1 pm on test day. One exam is allowed per session.

REMEMBER: Please bring 2 forms of identification with you to the test center. The first must be a Primary I.D. (Driver's License, Passport, Military I.D. with signature, State I.D. or a Government I.D.). The second form can be either a Primary I.D. or a Secondary I.D. (Job I.D., Social Security Card, University/College I.D.). We cannot allow you to take the test without 2 proper forms of identification.

CLEP PAYMENT
Credit Card
If credit card is chosen for payment, please mark the appropriate box on the registration form. You will enter the card information into the CLEP payment page on test day. UMA will also need the credit card number for a $25 service fee prior to testing.
Check or Money Order
If check or money order is chosen as payment, it must be sent with the registration form. The check information is needed for the for the testing staff to pre-register the student for the test.
Military Funded CLEP
If a branch of the armed services is paying for testing, please send the following information for pre- registration:
