Computer Labs
The University of Maine at Augusta has several state-of-the-art computer labs available for student use as well as for classes and training. The Computer Services Department maintains 4 student computer labs on the Augusta campus and 5 on the Bangor Campus.
Augusta Campus
- Room 253 Student Technology Center Classroom
Room 253 of the Student Technology Center is a classroom computer lab. Using these computers requires a current Student ID number or a University email account. For more information, call 621-3253.
The lab consists of:- 30 - Dell Optiplex GX 620 computers with 1.0 GB RAM, 80.0 GB HardDrive
- 17" Flat Panel displays
- HP laserjet printer
- Room 255 Student Technology Center Classroom
Room 255 of the Student Technology Center is a classroom computer lab. Using these computers requires a current Student ID number or a University email account. For more information, call 621-3253.
The lab consists of:- 30 - HP dc7700 computers with 2 GB RAM, 80.0 GB HardDrive
- 18" Flat Panel displays
- HP laserjet printer
- HP DesignJet 500 (Plotter)
- Student Technology Center Student Lab
The Student Technology Center Computer Lab is located in Room 127 of the Student Technology Center and is available for use only by currently registered students of The University of Maine System. Faculty and staff of The University of Maine System are also welcome to use the lab. Using these computers requires a current Student ID number or a University email account. The Katz Library Computer Classroom, located on the second floor of the Bennett D. Katz Library, is used exclusively for classes and training sessions only. Please call Carol Welch at 621-3040 for more information on lab availability and scheduling.

Bangor Campus
- Belfast Hall
Belfast Hall has five computers in the Writing Lab located on the first floor. Staff is available on a flexible schedule to assist students in preparing and writing papers. Call 262-7753 for times. Belfast Hall also houses the Legal Computer Lab which is located on the third floor adjacent to the Law Library. These computers have connections to the West Law Library in addition to the other campus software and Internet access. This enables Legal Technology students to complete much of their research on campus. Legal faculty are located on the same wing for support. - College Center
The Computer Center is located in the College Center and comprised of a 24-station classroom and 24-station lab. Both the classroom and the lab are designed to be ergonomically comfortable, relaxed, quiet spaces in which to complete work. During most hours, there is a lab attendant available for assistance.
Hardware:
The computer classroom and lab consist of Dell Pentium computers and utilize current technology. A Robotel teaching aid is utilized in the classroom.
Software:
The University College of Bangor campus is equipped with state-of-the-art networking services. Wireless access is available to all who have an active account within the University of Maine System. There are Ethernet connections in the Computer Lab for those who want to connect directly. An IP address is required and can be obtained from Computer Services staff. The computers on campus are uniformly formatted and have the latest Microsoft products. This enables students to use any computer available to complete their work.
Both hardware and software may be purchased by students at a discount through Computer Connection, a division of the University of Maine System.
Internet:
All computers on campus have Internet access. Students may obtain up to 100 hours a month of free Internet access. The University of Maine System has purchased Symantec Corp's Norton Anti Virus product; the software may be installed on one home computer utilized for University purposes, providing you are a registered student, faculty member, or employee of the University of Maine. Access the Anti Virus at http://www2.umaine.edu/software/antivirus.html. Any University College student may obtain his/her free e-mail account through the College Center Computer Services Staff on the Bangor Campus or the University of Maine System. UNET has implemented a program that allows users with a University e-mail address a way to check their e-mail anywhere Internet access is available at http://mail.maine.edu/imp/. Funding
The Student Technology Fee funds the computer center and labs.
Eastport Hall
Eastport Hall houses the Cornerstone Lab with 6 computers, the Eastport Computer Lab with 18 computers and the Library is equipped with 8 computers for referencing data and information. Students can learn basic computer operation in the Cornerstone Lab and receive additional assistance during specific hours in the Eastport Computer Lab. Lincoln Hall
Lincoln Hall houses the Dental Computer Lab. Primarily the Dental Hygiene students use these computers to access the popular Dentrix dental program.
