The faculty have been researching the means of offering a course that allows students to work with other students internationally online. The goals of the course include developing skills in the area of perspective taking and global citizenship. This project has been supported by the Office of the Provost. A classroom is being redesigned to allow for both group and one to one international collaboration. It is being undertaken by Professor Ken Elliott in collaboration with Professor Magdalena Linhardt, a psychologist in the Mental Health and Human Services program. The course is well suited to co-teaching by faculty in multiple nations and from diverse disciplines.
Partners from Slovakia and Romania are currently considering collaborating with UMA on this endeavor. The pilot testing of the technologies and completion of the syllabus and course design will take place in the Fall '12 semester. The GU course is currently scheduled to be offered in the Spring '13 semester.
