UMPI Elementary Education Portfolio

Prior to student teaching, students should have an initial portfolio that contains the following items.

1.  Current Philosophy of Teaching and Learning

2. Resume

3. Self-initiated Field Experience of 50 hours 

4. Evidence of growth towards Maine's Initial Teacher Standards, one tab for each standard. You will continue to add to this section as you student teach.

5. Evidence of awareness of Maine Learning Results/Common Core. Evidence may include but is not limited to

  • reflective essays
  • papers written for core courses
  • activities/projects/creative work from classes
  • observations from field experience
  • computer programs/tools developed by student
  • writing samples
  • letters of support and evaluation from cooperating teachers/professors
  • videos of student participation in a classroom (permission needed)
  • reflections on work experience with children
  • annotated bibliography of books read pertaining to teaching and learning
  • K-12 student products from classes in which student assisted*

6. PRAXIS I SCORES (must be passing scores)

7. Transcript from MaineStreet

8. Proof of fingerprinting
