Educational Background

B.S., Cornell College, 1989
M.A., Harvard University, 1998

I began teaching at UMA in 2005 having spent the last 11 years in Boston, most recently working for the firm Perry Dean Rogers/Partners Architects. There I worked on various institutional projects including the McCain Library at Agnes Scott College, 60 Oxford Street for Harvard University, and an addition to the National Library of Medicine. Concurrently I taught part-time at the Boston Architectural College, the Rhode Island School of Design, and the Wentworth Institute of Technology.

I graduated from Cornell College, Mt. Vernon, Iowa in 1989 with a BA in Theater Design and a minor in Shakespearian Literature. After working in theaters on both coasts, I went to graduate school at Harvard's Graduate School of Design where I graduated in 1998 receiving a Masters Degree in Architecture with a Letter of Commendation for Outstanding Achievement.
In addition to teaching at UMA, I maintain a small architectural practice doing residential and small commercial design work. My current work includes a seasonal residence on Cushings Island in Casco Bay. My on-going research includes methods of using wood, lamp & lighting design, and furniture design.
