Scholarships are financial awards which do not have to be repaid. UMA students have an opportunity to apply for a number of scholarships as a result of funding made available by the University of Maine at Augusta, the University of Maine System, and generous donations by organizations and individuals to UMA’s scholarship fund.

Cecil E. Powers Scholarship
  • University College at Bangor (UMA Bangor) campus student
  • Majoring in Criminal Justice
  • Good academic standing
  • Demonstrated financial need*

Vivian B. Raymond Scholarship Fund
  • University College at Bangor (UMA Bangor) campus student
  • Completed a minimum of 30 credits
  • Single parent who has overcome hardship to attend UMA Bangor

Richard J. and Mary Elisabeth Randall Scholarship

  • Named after former President Richard J. Randall, and Mary Elisabeth, Vice President Emerita of Enrollment Management.
  • Must be enrolled in a degree program

M. Richard Cameron Scholarship           
  • Augusta Based Criminal Justice major
  • Has current or previous military experience

Martin & Molly Schwartz Scholarship
  • Single parents
  • Student’s income falls within eligibility guidelines for AFDC (TANF) plus 20 percent
  • Demonstrated financial need*

SCORE Scholarship           
  • Dedicated and successful business student in a Bachelor degree
  • Demonstrates a high level of interest in small business
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher

Student Government Association – Augusta Based

Patrick J. Sullivan Memorial Scholarship
  • UMA Music student who exhibits positive attitude, determination, imagination and a creative spirit

Unified Fee Grant

  • Awarded to assist student with costs associated with child care, travel, books and other miscellaneous educational expenses
  •   Demonstrated financial need*
  • Awards are on-going

Kenneth C. Ward Scholarship
  • Currently a UMA freshman or sophomore
  • Demonstrated proficiency in math
  • No application required, selection made by UMA representatives

*Demonstrated Financial Need is determined by the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students must file the FAFSA prior to March 1 for each academic year in order to be considered.
**UMA General Scholarship Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office and on various Sites and Centers from January through the first week of March.
