Composer, saxophonist, and teacher, Frank Mauceri is based in southern Maine. His compositions include chamber music, electro-acoustic music, multi-media, and jazz. As a saxophonist he has performed with the Boston based Aardvard Jazz Orchestra, and in Maine with Fire-caught-fire, Loki, and with his own trio. Frank studied music composition at Oberlin College and completed his doctorate in composition at the University of Illinois. His research has focused on the social effects of music technology and computer assisted composition. Currently, he is developing interactive computer systems for use with improvising musicians. Frank founded Jazz for a New Society, a collective of jazz musicians who perform in order to raise funds and awareness in support of local activist organizations (For more info see http://myspace.com/jazzforanewsociety). Frank teaches at Bowdoin College and at the University of Maine at Augusta.
