The Elusive Pursuit of Education Reform:
Prospects for Change in Maine, New England, and Across the Nation

AlbaneseAs part of the Forum on the Future lecture series, UMA College of Arts and Sciences and UMA Senior College presented, The Elusive Pursuit of Education Reform: Prospects for Change in Maine, New England, and Across the Nation, featuring former Maine Commissioner of Education, Duke Albanese on Sunday, September 15 at 2:00pm in Room 180 of Jewett Hall.

Albanese discussed the history of educational change and talked about current educational initiatives in Maine and across the nation. Following the presentation there was a group discussion.

Albanese has been a leader in education for 40 years serving as both a superintendent of schools, and Commissioner of Education for the State of Maine. He is the founding director of the nationally recognized Sports Done Right initiative based at the University of Maine and currently works as a Senior Policy Advisor for the Great Schools Partnership, Inc. in Portland, Maine. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College and completed graduate studies at the University of Maine.
