French Fundraising Concert, Les Chemins de l’amour to take place at UMA February 2nd.

The UMA French Club is sponsoring a concert, Les Chemins de l’amour – an homage to French music, as a fundraiser for the French minor scholarship fund, at the University of Maine at Augusta on Saturday, February 2nd from 7:00-8:30pm in Jewett Auditorium.

Acclaimed on the scenes of many national and international stages, Mezzo-soprano Joëlle Morris and pianist Bridget Convey will evoke the quintessential French spirit with their talent and sensitivity. Enjoy the French “joie de vivre” in an intimate setting, with only a piano and a voice! Featuring among others, a sultry Habanera from Bizet’s Carmen, Francis Poulenc’s mordant wit and Edith Piaf’s greatest hits, the musical selections will transport you to the land of passionate love and insouciance.   This program will be sung in both French and English.

Tickets are $10 each for community members. UMA students and Children 6 and under are free.  Delicious homemade crêpes will be sold before the concert (starting at 6:30 p.m.), as well as during intermission and after the concert. Snow date: Saturday, February 9th from 7:00-8:30pm (please check www.uma.edu for storm closings).
