FRENCH MINOR

The French minor focuses on students’ proficiency in the French language by building on all four major skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The language courses are designed using authentic cultural materials as examples, so student learn more about French-speaking cultures around the world.  North American French, in particular local French, has an important place in our work with the community.  In addition, students can read literature from the Francophone world in translation, learn more about Franco-American culture in New England, or participate in experiential travel courses that allow a fuller appreciation of the language in a cultural context.  The minor is designed to be flexible and suit the individual interests of the students.

There are two tracks available to students in the minor.  The first track is a language/culture track and the other is a language track.

FRENCH MINOR: LANGUAGE AND CULTURE
The culture track allows students to acquire a strong foundational knowledge of the French language, while learning more about Francophone cultures around the world and in New England.
