There are all sorts of great ways to get involved at UMA.

  • You can join one of the many student clubs and organizations that already exist on the Augusta and Bangor campuses. If you want to start your own student group, you can do that, too.
  • You can run for Student Government, or apply to become a member UMA's nationally renowned Honors Program.
  • You can volunteer in the community. Our Office of Civic Engagement organizes student volunteer efforts in the many towns that surround our campuses -- and sometimes further away. Last year, students traveled to New Orleans to work on a Habitat for Humanity Project.
  • And if you're an athlete, UMA offers a great way to continue or renew your sports passion, but in a less intense manner than most colleges. Competing in the Yankee Small College Conference, UMA fields teams in men's and women's basketball, women's soccer, and men's and women's golf.

Of course, for many students juggling school, jobs and families, attending classes is plenty enough. But even for those too busy to join a club or become a student leader, it's still great to be able to attend a free campus concert, art exhibit, dance, family carnival or sports event. Or maybe go on a quick and inexpensive weekend getaway trip, whether it be whitewater rafting, or a chartered bus down to Boston or New York. There's always something going on at UMA.
