Title:
Theatrical Piece MY NAME IS RACHEL CORRIE
Date:
Sunday, March 23rd 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Description

The Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine (HHRC) will present three performances of Dramatic Repertory Company’s My Name is Rachel Corrie on Friday, March 21st at 7 PM, Saturday March 22nd at 2 PM and Sunday, March 23rd at 2 PM at the Michael Klahr Center, located on the University of Maine at Augusta campus.

A lover of cigarettes, Pat Benatar music, and non-violent communication, Rachel Corrie was a peace activist working in the Gaza Strip when she was tragically killed by an Israel Defense Forces’ armored bulldozer. Raw, optimistic and intimate, Corrie’s writings convey the immediacy of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the impassioned eyes of a twenty-something from Olympia, Washington.

Casey Turner (2013 PEER Award-winner for Eurydice, DRC’s Tigers Be Still) stars in the DRC’s production of My Name is Rachel Corrie, taken from the journals, letters and emails of Rachel Corrie, edited by Alan Rickman and Katharine Viner and directed by Keith Powell Beyland.

This moving production is sponsored by the HHRC, UMA Diversity Committee, the UMA Cultural Events Committee, and UMA’s Senior College. Tickets are $17 in advance, $20 at the door, and UMA students with ID are free. Advance tickets available at the HHRC, by calling 621-3530 or online at www.dramaticrep.org. FMI please visit hhrc.uma.edu or call 207-621-3530.
