Interdisciplinary Studies

classroom-shot_1.jpg

Interested in business technology? Public relations? Art therapy? UMA’s new Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies lets you realize your goals by designing your own major in almost any field not represented by existing degree offerings.

Here’s how it works: In cooperation with your advisor and other faculty members, develop a “learning proposal” outlining the degree you’re aiming for, and the courses, internships, and/or apprenticeships you will need to earn your diploma. For curriculum, draw upon the extensive course offerings of UMA’s campuses, as well as the resources of professional organizations, business, government agencies, and more. Add courses in the humanities, natural sciences, social sciences, and other fields to complement your major and build a well-rounded liberal arts degree. Then, cap your studies with a thesis, oral presentation, or other project of your own design.
