Kando is an original founder of the Midcoast Green Collaborative and is doing energy related research on the future of Maine's cities. Originally a chemical engineer working on solar energy, he switched to energy research at the University of Delaware where he helped President Jimmy Carter heat the White House with solar energy.

The previous speakers and panelists focus on the Economy, Health, Energy, and Education. In this program they will join others to try to "connect the dots". Libby Mitchell, Visiting UMA Professor, needs no introduction. She plans parallel sessions of panel discussions in the afternoon and a national speaker at 7 pm.
