I am new to UMA, joining the faculty in fall of 2006. My personal interests are in oil and encaustic painting, drawing, and contemporary art practice and theory. I believe that the keys to an arts education are a synthesis of: individual facility, knowledge of contemporary studio practice and art history, making work of personal resonance, and a commitment to both craft and community. The artist needs the community as much as community needs artists.

Peter has exhibited his paintings, drawings and prints in Maine, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New York, Rhode Island, and Texas. He has curated three exhibitions at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston and has published essays in several of there exhibition catalogues.
