Beginning Portfolio - at the conclusion of EDU 250

REQUIRED COMPONENTS (from EDU 250)
  • Resume
  • Philosophy of learning and teaching 
  • Reform essay 
  • Tabs for each of the eleven Initial Teacher Certification Standards for Maine
  • Reflection and self-assessment using Maine's Initial Teacher Standards (documented understanding of at least two standards)

 

RECOMMENDED COMPONENTS (from EDU 250)

  • Other documents and/or artifacts that you feel show your ability to teach

 

Intermediate Portfolio - at the conclusion of EDU 380
 
REQUIRED COMPONENTS
  • All documents and artifacts from beginning portfolio (revised to demonstrate reflection and growth)
  • Inquiry unit from EDU 380
  • Tabs for each of the eleven Initial Teacher Certification Standards for Maine
  • Reflection and self-assessment using Maine's Initial Teacher Standards (documented understanding of at least two standards

 

RECOMMENDED COMPONENTS

  • Reflections and responses to readings
  • Documents from EDU 387 or other education courses.
  • Other documents and/or artifacts that you feel demonstrate your ability to teach

 

Advanced Portfolio - Required before student teaching
 
REQUIRED COMPONENTS
  • All documents and artifacts from beginning and intermediate portfolios (revised to demonstrate reflection and growth)
  • Unit plan from EDU 390
  • Field Observation report from EDU 390
  • Tabs for each of the eleven Initial Teacher Certification Standards for Maine (documented understanding of at least four standards)
  • Reflection and self-assessment using Maine's Initial Teacher Standards

 

RECOMMENDED COMPONENTS

  • Documents, artifacts, explanations, reflections, and or analyses to demonstrate your understanding and growth towards each of the eleven Initial Teacher Certification Standards for Maine
  • Any documents and/or artifacts that you feel are important to demonstrate your ability to teach

 

Final Portfolio/Professional Portfolio - Required at the conclusion of student teaching

  • Letter of introduction
  • Resume

  • Letters of Recommendation
  • Transcripts
  • Licensure exam scores/proof of fingerprinting
  • Philosophy of learning and teaching
  • Lesson plans from student teaching
  • Analyses of two lessons you taught during student teaching
  • Evidence of growth in the eleven Initial Teacher Certification Standards for Maine 
  • Summary, reflection, and self-assessment for the entire student teaching experience

 

RECOMMENDED COMPONENTS

  • Other documents or artifacts from beginning, intermediate or advanced portfolios
  • Student work (must have permission from parents)
  • Videos (must have permission from parents if students appear in the video)
  • Any documents and/or artifacts you feel demonstrate your ability to teach
