Hello! This is where I am supposed to tell you about myself, how I teach, and my interests. First of all, I am a "native Mainer", having been born and grown up here in Maine. I have spent over 30 years in business and management. Much of that time was in financing, including mortgage banking, both consumer and commercial lending, and economic development. My work in economic development was especially satisfying and I have a passion for small business and economic development. This work is especially helpful in teaching the small business courses here at UMA, and provides many "real life" examples of Maine companies that I like to bring to the classroom. My research interests include Entrepreneurship, Economic Development, International Business, the Wine Industry, and Fair Trade.
I believe that entrepreneurship and small business development are the keys to Maine's future, and that UMA has a key role to play in that future! I have had students who have gone on to establish their own businesses, which is one of the most satisfying things I can hope for as a teacher in the field. I always enjoy hearing about new Maine businesses that are finding ways to grow and succeed!
