UMA Named Military Friendly School

The University of Maine at Augusta announced that for the fourth year in a row, it has been named to the coveted Military Friendly Schools list published by GI Jobs Magazine.

Military Friendly

The 2014 Military Friendly Schools list, complied by Victory Media, honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.

Compiled through extensive research and a data driven survey of more than 10,000 schools nationwide, the 2014 list can be found at

“Inclusion on the 2014 list of Military Friendly Schools shows the University of Maine at Augusta’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” said Sean Collins, Vice President at Victory Media and a nine-year Navy veteran.

“It is an honor to once again be selected for the Military Friendly Schools list,” said Amy Line, UMA’s Coordinator of Veteran Support Services. “At UMA we are 100% committed to serving those who have served our nation. We provide an array of services for student veterans, everything from private lounges to advising and counseling services. This month we are hosting the Maine Mobile Vet Center at both UMA campuses and several of our distance centers to help better assist student veterans and their families. “

The Mobile Vet Center tour, sponsored by Maine’s Department of Veteran’s Affairs, will be on the Augusta campus on October 3rd from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM and on UMA’s Bangor campus on October 30th. For more information contact Amy Line 621-3215.
