Admissions & Student Enrollment Services
Hello! We are your first stop on campus and you will probably visit us often! We’re happy to discuss our degree programs with you and help you through the admissions process. We’ll also help you understand and complete your application for financial aid, explain the billing process, collect your immunization records and answer your questions about UMA policies and procedures. Want to tour the campus? We can arrange that, too. We’re in Lewiston Hall, 65 Texas Avenue, and we’re open Mondays through Fridays, 8:00 am until 4:30 pm. Phone: 207.262.7800, option 3; Fax: 207.262.7801.
Steps to Becoming a Student
You’re ready to start college: congratulations! What do you need to do?
- Download UMA’s short application form, fill it out and send it with a $40 application fee to the Application Processing Center, PO Box 412, Bangor, ME 04402-0412.
- Contact your high school to send your official high school transcript to the same address.
- If you’ve previously attended college, contact the Records Office to request an official, original transcript be sent to the same Processing Center address You’ll need to fill out a form or write a letter to get most official college transcripts.
- For some of our degree programs, unless you have transfer credit in English and math, you need to take placement tests before an admissions decision can be made. Contact us to schedule your testing at 262-7800, opt. 3, or 262-7802.
- File your financial aid application at www.fafsa.ed.gov right away! Don’t wait to hear back from Admissions; financial aid processing can take two to three months.
- Collect your immunization records. State of Maine law requires you to show proof of two MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) immunizations and a diphtheria/tetanus shot within the past ten years (tetanus will have to be current within five years for majors in health-related fields).
- Contact us if you have questions!
Once you are admitted, you’ll receive a letter with information on the next steps you should take.
