UMA Strategic Plan - History and Context for Key Goal 4
Objective 4.1: Expand student recruitment efforts.
In February 2002, UMA engaged Noel-Levitz consultants to examine and improve recruitment and marketing procedures. It became evident that the priority projects (create inquiry management database, develop operations reports, automate inquiry and application communication flows, etc.) were all directly related to strengthening and mining UMA's information systems. As a result, the Admissions and Records department was reassigned to the Chief Financial Officer who also supervised Information Services, Computing Services, Financial Aid and Student Accounts. Goal 4.1.1 affirms and formalizes enrollment management as an organizational unit and establishes a position to provide on-going management and development.
The Admissions Office began generating and following an annual Recruitment Plan in 2002 (another project initiated as a result of the Noel-Levitz consultation). Goal 4.1.2 institutionalizes UMA's commitment to continually review and revise its recruitment plan.
The new community college system and a declining statewide population of high school seniors, pose enrollment challenges for UMA. Goal 4.1.3 establishes UMA's plans to off-set these challenges by reinforcing and growing community college transfers to baccalaureate programs and increasing referrals from adult education programs, transition agencies and employers.
