Objective 1.2.4 Strategies and Benchmarks

1.2.4  The academic unit will develop and adopt campus-wide definitions of "computer literacy" and "information literacy," will establish levels of competencies, and will begin assessment of these competencies throughout the curriculum by fall 2011.

The Core – Gen Ed Committee will develop student learning outcomes for computer literacy and information literacy in consultation with faculty who teach these skills.  This process will begin in the spring of '07 and culminate in approval of these outcomes by the Faculty Senate in the spring of '08.  Following approval, the Core – Gen Ed Committee will develop program specific plans for implementing these outcomes within academic programs.  Thereafter, the programs will assess these outcomes along with already approved programmatic outcomes and core & gen-ed university wide student learning outcomes.  This will occur by 2011.

The benchmarks for these objectives will be the approval of outcomes by the Faculty Senate and thereafter the development of curriculum for achieving and assessing these outcomes on a program specific basis.
