1.4.3 The University will collaborate with institutions in the Maine Community College System to implement the recommendations of the Governor's Task Force regarding the Maine Higher Education Partnership.
The President and Provost have and will continue to work with their counterparts at KVCC, EMCC, and CMCC to ensure that associate degree needs of the region are being met effectively and efficiently. Transfer Officers and Coordinators of academic programs and disciplines will work with their counterparts to ensure that course equivalents are kept current and that best practices are shared in regular and ongoing conversations. These conversations need to begin within the 2008-09 academic year.
The Writing Coalition is being viewed as a model to build representative groups to facilitate conversations about general education requirements. These groups of UMS and MCCS faculty would also engage high school educators to help insure that high school graduates are college ready.
