Objective 1.5.3 Strategies and Benchmarks

1.5.3  The DLC in collaboration with the academic colleges and the Faculty Senate will document and advocate for clear and effective standards for teaching with technology both in traditional classrooms and at a distance.

In FY '08, the Senate and the Distance Learning Council will collaborate to identify standards for teaching with technologies. These standards will then be documented during FY '09 and posted on the UMA website and distributed to all faculty.  The Distance Learning Council will continue to promote the availability of the UC training program in Blackboard and that anyone who's approved to  participate receive a stipend for her/his efforts regardless of how, or if, they use Blackbord in the future.  UMA's goal is to have 100% of the faculty versed in the use of Blackboard, either as a direct mode of teaching or in support of other teaching options.

In FY '09, the DLC will collaborate with the Faculty Senate to support a new more appropriate faculty evaluation form for those teaching at a distance. As a result of this collaboration, a new evaluation form(s) will be in use during FY '10 for distance teaching.

In FY '10, the DLC will work with Academic Deans, Coordinators, UMA IT Staff, the Technology Advisory Planning Committee and UC staff and to review technological support systems (hardware, software, and personnel).  A summary of needed upgrades, improvements and additions in UMA's classrooms and for distance instruction will be made available and implemented as funding allows.
