Objective 3.2.1 Strategies and Benchmarks

3.2.1 In conjunction with academic departments, the Advising Center will develop a proactive, targeted advising and tracking program for first-year and incoming transfer students.

A new MELMAC Grant-supported Advising Assistant Program started in earnest in January '07 with the hiring of a program coordinator (College Success Grant Project Coordinator). Project staff and management will target new initiatives toward incoming summer and fall 2007 cohorts. Staff will pilot FY '08 activities with one academic program from each college: Business, Liberal Studies and Mental Health & Human Services. In keeping with grant requirements, staff will generate annual accountability reports. During each successive year, strategies will be assessed and modified to more effectively meet grant goals, subsequent incoming cohorts will joint the target pool, and additional academic programs will join the project as advisor/advisee ratios require and resources permit.
