Objective 3.4.2 Strategies and Benchmarks
3.4.2 UMA's program review process will acknowledge retention as an essential element of academic program success.
Beginning with the FY '07 program annual reports, departments will report and discuss retention numbers as called for on the standardized data forms. University data gathering tools will be designed in FY '08 to survey students who have dropped out of school. A similar survey will be developed for students in courses with habitual fail/drop rates of 25% or higher. The survey results will be used to help develop retention strategies for programs as well as assess the effectiveness of implemented plans. It is also possible that the survey results would influence admissions standards for either or both the University and program(s).
