Objective 7.2.1 Strategies and Benchmarks

7.2.1    The Technology Advisory Planning Committee will conduct a needs assessment to identify the University's current and future technology needs.

In FY '08, the Technology Advisory Planning Committee will develop a comprehensive survey to establish institutional needs, which will be done online using Survey Monkey.  Balanced against the expertise of the Committee and the IT staff, the responses to the survey will be the basis for writing in FY '09 a new five-year (FY '10 – '14) Master Technology Plan.  The Plan will serve as a guide to the usual business and decisions that the Committee undertakes.

As an ongoing process, the Technology Advisory Planning Committee regularly discusses any ideas/suggestions presented to the committee.  The Committee annually solicits requests from faculty and staff during the months of February and March.  During April, the committee decides which requests can be funded for the new fiscal year beginning in July, which requests should seek other funding, and which requests should not be funded.  Provost has final approval on all decisions.  The IT staff work closely with the CIS faculty, attend CIS faculty meetings, and make decisions regarding future technology with the input and advice of the CIS faculty and the Technology Advisory Planning Committee.
