UMA Bangor to Participate in Domestic Violence Awareness “Clothesline Project”

clotheslineProjectThe UMA Women's, Gender, and Sexuality (WGS) studies program will be hosting a domestic violence awareness display called the Clothesline Project from October 18th - 24th in Huskins Lounge of Eastport Hall on the UMA Bangor campus.

The Clothesline Project is a national organization that brings attention to domestic violence.  Those who have been affected by violence express their emotions by decorating a t-shirt and hanging it on the clothesline to be viewed by others as testimony to the problem of violence against women.

Students from the WGS program will be available to help participants decorate t-shirts in Huskins Lounge from October 21st -24th from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Campus and community members are encouraged to view the project and/or participate by making a t-shirt to share their own experience, or a friend or family member's experience.
