 Women’s Soccer Coach

The University of Maine at Augusta seeks applications for a part-time Women’s Soccer Coach.  Responsibilities include:  coaching and student management; player recruiting and evaluation; player development; transporting players and staff to and from games; and other reasonably related responsibilities.  The successful applicant must have a sincere commitment to the student athlete’s progress and be able to work a flexible schedule.  In addition to coaching, the Coach will be expected to recruit student athletes throughout the year.  Salary:  The salary for this position is $5,000 annually. 

 

Qualifications:  Requirements:  A Bachelor’s Degree; successful soccer playing and coaching experience; ability to recruit student athletes; ability to organize and supervise students; ability to teach soccer, create a positive educational experience; valid Class C Maine driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Job Description

Women’s Soccer Coach

 

Organizational Relationships

  1. Reports to:  Director of Athletics
  2. Supervises: Players, assigned work study students, volunteers, and assistant coaches
  3. Coordinates with: Director, faculty representatives, Registrar, Admissions, Men’s Soccer Coach, Men's and Women's Basketball Coaches, and other staff members as appropriate

 

Primary Purpose of Position

Major Duties of Position

  1.    Coach women’s varsity soccer, supervise practice and games

  2.   Recruit student athletes and recommend scholarship recipients to the Athletic Director

  3.   The work will involve days, evenings, and weekends

  4.   Transport players and support staff to contests

  5.   Monitor student athletes academic progress towards graduation

  6.   Hold weekly study halls during the semesters

 Additional Duties

  1.   Submit the names of team members for eligibility

  2.   Maintain and report statistics to the office YSCC and/or USCAA

  3.   Waivers must be completed for all players with required insurance

  4.   Explain the UMA policy regarding travel to players

  5.   Coordinate publicity with the office and report scores to the media immediately following a contest

  6.   Maintain, issue, and inventory supplies and equipment

  7.   Manage, record, and make appropriate referrals with director for injuries

  8.   Coordinate and assist with travel and contest arrangements

  9.   Coordinate with the Athletic Director on awards, budget, schedule, and recruitment

  10.   Hold weekly study halls for the student athletes

  11.   Perform other reasonable duties as assigned

 

 Knowledge and Skill Qualifications

 Minimal Qualifications

  1.    Bachelor's degree required
  2.   Ability to recruit student athletes
  3.   Ability to organize and supervise students
  4.   Ability to teach soccer and make it a positive educational experience
  5.   Successful soccer playing and coaching experience
  6.   Valid State of Maine driver’s license
  7.   Must be able to be approved to drive University Vehicles
