- Minimum 50% of the required courses taken through UMA

Pre-candidacy phase (14 credits)
Pre-Candidacy Phase Requirements:
- Complete all pre-candidacy EDU courses with a grade of B- or better
- Grade of C or better in ENG 101
- Grade of C or better in mathematics (MAT 1xx)
- GPA requirement met: 2.5 overall; 2.75 in education courses
- Demonstrate proficiency on all key assessments

- Complete application to candidacy
Candidacy Phase Requirements:
- Complete all candidacy EDU courses with a grade of B- or better
- Demonstrate proficiency on all key assessments
- Demonstrate proficiency on dispositions
- CHRC approval documentation uploaded to Taskstream®
Candidacy phase (38 credits)
Additional Requirements:
- GPA 3.0 in education courses and GPA 2.5 overall
- Complete application for student teaching
Student Teaching phase (12 credits)
Additional Requirements:
For full Maine state certification, students must also complete the following:
- A Baccalaureate Degree from a Regionally Accredited Institution
General Education courses need for certification:
- Complete any two English courses 6 CR
- Complete any two Mathematics courses 6 CR MAT 130 & MAT 131 recommended
- Complete any two Science courses 6 CR
- Complete any two Social Studies courses (anthropology, geography, history or political science) 6 CR
