Pre-candidacy phase (14 credits)


Pre-Candidacy Phase Requirements:

  • Complete all pre-candidacy EDU courses with a grade of B- or better
  • Grade of C or better in ENG 101   
  • Grade of C or better in mathematics (MAT 1xx)
  • GPA requirement met: 2.5 overall; 2.75 in education courses
  • Demonstrate proficiency on all key assessments

Candidacy application procedure:

  • Complete application to candidacy

Candidacy Phase Requirements:

  • Complete all candidacy EDU courses with a grade of B- or better
  • Demonstrate proficiency on all key assessments
  • Demonstrate proficiency on dispositions
  • CHRC approval documentation uploaded to Taskstream®

Additional Requirements:


  • GPA of 2.5 overall and 2.75 in education courses
  • Complete application for student teaching

Student Teaching phase (12 credits)


Additional Certification Requirements:


  • A Baccalaureate Degree from a Regionally Accredited Institution
  • At least 24 credit hours in the content area (English, Life Science, Physical Science, Mathematics, Social Studies)
