Cheryl J Annis, received an MS in Community/Public Health Nursing from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, MA in 2000. She received her BSN in 1978 from Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, IL. She served as an adjunct professor at UMA teaching the Community and Global Health Lecture and Clinical courses. Ms. Annis will begin teaching fulltime this fall. Her professional interests include public health emergency preparedness and response. She has worked at the Maine CDC Division of Public Health Nursing as a Public Health Nursing Supervisor from 2017-2021. Ms. Annis’ nursing career has provided her opportunities to work in many different areas of nursing practice.  Her primary passion has been in public health and she has worked at State, County, and local health departments as a Public Health Nurse.  She also was the first director of the Cape Cod Medical Reserve Corps, a volunteer organization established in her community at her church and funded by the Federal Health and Human Services after 911 to provide help in times of disaster when the existing systems of care became overwhelmed.  This intersection of her spiritual and community involvement has been one of the most exciting and fulfilling experiences in her personal and professional life.
