Larry Whitsel was born in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, on May 12, 1959. He was raised in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania and graduated from Juniata High School in 1977. He attended Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated with honors with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications: Radio/TV/Film in 1981, earned a Master’s degree in Software Engineering from Azusa Pacific University, a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Maine in 2010 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from the University of Maine in 2013.
After working briefly in the radio industry, Larry turned to the information technology industry in 1985 spending the next 20 years building software for companies like General Electric, Northrop Grumman, Trident Data Systems and Symantec Corporation.
Following the career in industry, Larry moved to Maine for his doctoral work at the University of Maine in 2005, studying miscreant agent behaviors in open multiagent systems.
Larry joined the faculty of the University of Maine at Augusta in September 2013. He primarily teaches classes in the field of Software Development.
