William Klingelhofer holds a PhD in Fine Arts from Harvard University where he was trained as an architectural and art historian. His interests are broad and wide-ranging, from the Americas to Asia; his doctoral thesis was on Islamic architecture in India. He has taught at Harvard, Washington and Lee University, Maine College of Art, and the University of Southern Maine. He also served as director of international programs at Harvard and Washington and Lee. He has offered courses at the UMA architecture school on global architecture, modern architecture, and the traditional architecture of Asia. He has also pursued interests in architectural restoration and preservation with hands-on work on numerous early American and Federal period houses in New England and Virginia.
