Bio

Thomas Suczek, M.M., is an Instructor of Music at the University of Maine at Augusta. He teaches applied lessons in Piano.

Suczek is a piano teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area.

He provides instruction and coaching in piano technique, ear training, sight reading, keyboard harmony, arranging, and improvisation. He has an avid interest in music of the world, from folk, classical, and contemporary, and especially American blues and jazz. He has studied piano with Julian White, John Dinwiddie, Deno Giannopolis, Barbara Shearer, Carl Schnabel, Susan Muscarella, Art Lande, Mark Levine, Don Haas, and Richard Hindman.

Thomas has worked as keyboardist, composer, and arranger on the West Coast, including the Concord Jazz Festival, Seattle Bumbershoot Festival, Fillmore Auditorium, Regency Theater, Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco. He has shared the studio or stage with Martha Reeves, BB King, Bill Bruford, David Benoit, Dave Brubeck, Neal Schon, Steve Smith, Greg Rolie, Mic Gillette, David Garibaldi, Bill Haley and the Comets, Sammy Hagar, Mark Rivera, Alphonso Johnson, Gamma, and The Four Aces.

Some of Suczek’s gigs include keyboardist and assistant music director for Fely Tchaco in San Francisco, California. Fely is an African singer songwriter creating and performing music and dance in traditional African, French and African pop styles; performing and recording as keyboardist for the Robert Foley Band, St. Helena, California; composing, performing, and recording for the16-piece Kelly Park Big Band, with a residency at the Sound Room in Oakland, California; playing keyboards for The Fundamentals, a 6-piece, R&B-dance band with vocal trio, throughout the western United States.

Thomas Suczek records professionally from his studio in the San Francisco Bay Area primarily using Digital Performer and Logic. He is currently pianist at Scott’s Seafood Grill & Bar in Oakland, California, playing solo piano. He is also Music Director for St. Mark’s Church in Orinda, California.
