Bio

Tricia Spearin is an Assistant Professor of Dental Health who has taught in the dental hygiene, dental assisting, and expanded functions dental assisting programs in a variety of teaching modes: didactic, online, laboratory, and clinical courses. Tricia is a Certified Dental Assistant, Expanded Function Dental Assistant, Registered Dental Hygienist, and doctoral graduate in Education from ATSU. She is a member of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA), American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA), Maine Dental Hygienists’ Association (MDHA), secretary/treasurer for Sigma Phi Chapter Dental Hygiene Honor Society, and serves as a clinical examiner for the Commission on Dental Competency and Assessment (CDCA). Her research on Instructional strategies and Challenges with implementing teledentistry in dental hygiene programs has been published in the Journal of Dental Education (2024). She currently teaches in the dental hygiene bachelor’s degree program and expanded functions program.
