The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking qualified applicants for a one-year appointment (renewable) as faculty in the Mathematics discipline. The successful candidate will have experience teaching a wide range of mathematics courses, including developmental courses and experience staffing a math lab to support the University’s academic programs. The position is based at UMA’s Augusta campus and will require teaching both traditional classes and classes using distance education modalities. The position is available August 31 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Required Qualifications: A minimum of a Master’s degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or applied mathematics. The successful candidate must present evidence of excellent teaching that includes the use of new teaching technologies and delivery systems; have experience teaching math teacher education and math applied to computer information systems or business; have experience creating new courses;, revising courses, and programs; have a willingness to develop expertise in new technologies; have evidence of professional development; have excellent communication skills.
Faculty positions require teaching on our Augusta and/or Bangor campuses and/or at University College Centers; student advising; curriculum development; research and scholarship; university and community service; and will be expected to serve on various committees. The successful candidate will also be expected to teach via one or more distance education modalities: interactive television, video conferencing, and web-based instruction. Salary: The normal hiring range is mid-to-high forties commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers excellent fringe-benefits package.
