April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month
What is Denim Day?
The last Wednesday in April, people around the world wear denim on Denim Day to stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence and to raise awareness about harmful myths surrounding sexual assault.

Why Denim?
Denim Day began after a 1998 ruling by the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction. The justices claimed that the survivor must have “helped remove her tight jeans,” implying consent. Outraged by the verdict, people began wearing jeans as a form of protest—and a movement was born.
What It Stands For:
- Challenging victim-blaming
- Supporting survivor voices
- Raising awareness about consent and sexual violence
- Promoting education and prevention
How You Can Participate:
